The ancient town of Glastonbury is internationally renowned for its rich history, medieval legends and local folklore. Having been a place of pilgrimage for thousands of years, it's unique atmosphere attracts visitors from across the world.
We first spoke to Glastonbury Town Council in 2008 when they were looking for an innovative way of increasing tourism to the town by showcasing Glastonbury to potential visitors across the globe. Over a 2 year period we have worked closely with Glastonbury town council to achieve this objective. We have now established a serious of cameras positioned at key places of interest within the town, showcasing both the attractions of Glastonbury and the many events, pilgrimages and carnivals that take place throughout the year.
One of the key challenges we faced was running a number of cameras off the free wireless network that is offered in and around the town to tourists, local traders and the public. With four cameras now in place, fiNETra has helped attract many more tourists and business visitors to this ancient Somerset town.
"Glastonbury has an international reputation, attracting visitors from across the globe. Prospective visitors use the cameras to plan their trip and then to look at back on their visit to the town again and again."
"fiNETra's LIVE webcams also provide an international audience with unique insight to spectacular events such as the Glastonbury Carnival in the High Street and the Annual Pilgrimages to the Abbey."
"We have been extremely pleased with the level of professionalism, service and advice provided by fiNETra, the cameras have given Glastonbury the opportunity to be appreciated worldwide."
